Senior PHARMAssist has received national, statewide, and local recognition for its innovative programming for older adults since its inception in 1994.

2006: Named co-recipient of the Ernest B. Messer Award by the N.C. Division of Aging and Adult Services
This honor was presented to the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program and the Medicare Partners State Level Coordinating Committee, of which, Senior PHARMAssist is a member

2006: Don Blanton Award
Presented to Executive Director Gina Upchurch by the N.C. Association of Pharmacists for contributing “the most to the advancement of pharmacy in North Carolina during the past year”

2006: Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce’s “Nonprofit of the Year” Award

2006: Elna B. Spaulding Founder’s Award
Presented to Executive Director Gina Upchurch by WoMen-In-Action for leadership, strength, and meritorious service to the Durham community.

2001: Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Community Health Leadership Award
Awarded for Executive Director Gina Upchurch’s role in improving health care access to underserved and isolated older adults.

2000: National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare’s First Place Service to Seniors Award
“In recognition of outstanding contributions made to seniors and their families.”

2000: N.C. Association on Aging’s “Best Practice Model” for North Carolina

1998: N.C. Division of Aging - Department of Health and Human Services - Dr. George L. Maddox Award
“Excelling in creative programming to address the medication assistance needs of older adults.”
